Frequently Asked Questions

View a list of articles and information pages about progesterone.

Q: Why is cold-pressed so important?

A: Cold-pressed has to do with the oils that carry the progesterone cream into your body and ultimately to the receptor sites. Cold-pressed oils are pulled out of the seed and are not extracted by high heat. As with any food, when you heat it to high temperatures, you remove the enzymes. When you eat the food, the vitamins and minerals are still present, but you must add enzymes or your body will not be able to access them. It is the same here. Since our oils are cold-processed, they enter the skin more naturally, increasing the bioavailability of the product.

Q: Where can I purchase Cycle Balance Progesterone Cream?

A: Our Hormone Balancing Cream, Cycle Balance Cream, is also sold through distributors. You might want to visit our distributor sites as well and gain valuable information about progesterone in general. Please see our Information Links to find a place to purchase, or contact us about purchasing wholesale in bulk.

Q: Where does your progesterone come from, and is it certified?

A: Our Progesterone is micronized progesterone USP from wild yam only. We purchase progesterone and estriol from a US supplier only. This allows us to get certificates of analysis from US-based labs. This helps us when there is a difference between the certificates provided and our own tests.

Q: What is lanol exactly?

A: Lanol, a vegetable ester, is a blend of refined vegetable oils. The blend of these oils changes some in proportions at times, but the major oils in the product are Soybean, Apricot Kernel, Sweet Almond, Safflower, and Sunflower oil. It is listed as lanol because otherwise the labeling would have to be changed continually. Our labels carry the most updated information, but at this time (9/2014), the ingredients are…

Cycle Balance Cream Ingredients: Purified water, Carthamus tinctorius (Safflower) seed oil, Sepigel 305 (polyacrylamide, C13-14 isoparaffin, laureth-7), Progesterone USP, Hemp seed oil, Oenothera biennis (Evening Primrose) oil, Prunus armeniaca (Apricot) kernel oil, Vitis vinifera (Grape) seed oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E) oil, Aloe barbadensis (Aloe Vera gel extract), Potassium Sorbate, Sorbic acid

Q: What if I am allergic to soy?

A: Remember that our product is derived from wild yam and not soy.

Q: Can progesterone cream cause acne or does progesterone cream cause acne?

A: Acne is caused by many things. Cyclic acne, for which many people use progesterone cream, is usually due to hormonal imbalance when follicles do not mature properly and therefore erupt prematurely under the skin, causing pimples much like immature ovarian follicles will cause cysts. Progesterone is actually commonly used to balance hormones, which subsequently results in clearing up acne or cyclic acne. Consider Cycle Balance Plus or Female Hormone Balance, both found at Whole Family Products.
